Groom Prep

Who gets ready at the last minute? Last Friday, a client of mine asks me to help a friend of his out of a jam. An hour later, I find out his friend is getting married on Saturday and forgets his shirt and bowtie back home in Virginia. Needless to say, I found the right fitting shirt and bowtie and he’s a happy camper.

And you thought all the groom had to do was show up! This situation reminded me of how I prepped for my day. Unless I woke up thinking I was Denzel, I couldn’t just roll out of bed and go get married. When your big day rolls around, be smart, and use a checklist. My list was not too complicated.

1. Pack your clothes early

2. Pack grooming products in Dopp kit

3. Get shirt pressed day of event

4. Make sure you have the rings

5. Your “best man” is your backup reminder

Vegas Pt. 2

So what do you bring to Vegas if you plan on laying poolside all day? With the weather hotter than NYC, I decided to bring lightweight clothes that I can change out of by the pool, but still feel relaxed in, while walking back and forth through the hotel. Although Vegas isn’t humid, you still want to dress loose and relaxed as every hotel has climate controlled temps inside.

Staying at the Aria hotel, hanging out by the pool is an experience in itself. If you want to sun bathe all day, get there at 9am to get a good seat or cabana. With several pools to choose from, we decided to camp out at SKY POOL. It’s $50 a person to get into that pool area, but the chairs, cabanas, and service were that much better.

When not swimming like Nemo or Michael Phelps, you would find me eating, reading a book, or working on my tan. What I most enjoyed about the pool area was the in house music being played, great mix that didn’t just play EDM all day.

Should you visit, there is another pool area that has a club like atmosphere called Liquid. Picture any MTV party you’ve seen on TV, and that’s what you’ll see there.

Who made your Ferragamo?

As men’s fashion enjoys the spotlight, more guys want to separate themselves from the crowd.   Salvatore Ferragamo, a brand where shoes are the core of their business, offers customers the chance to design their own driving shoe.  With over 10+ leathers and Ferragamo logo “bits”to choose from, the combinations can be as tame or wild as you design them to be.  As most men will continue to wear either a lace up, or slip on shoe, a driver is an elegant piece that can dress up or dress down your outfit for any occassion.  So which color will you make?

Planning on going anywhere soon? Maybe Las Vegas, maybe Atlantic City?  Forget the bulky suitcase that everyone else will be dragging.  This bag by HUGO BOSS is big enough for your weekend essentials, and small enough to carry on an airplane.  Give your feet something to enjoy, rather than the same old black or brown shoes.  Besides being lightweight, I love the contrast stitching that stands out against the colored suede.

Shoe Game

IMG_3474Whether it’s time to go to work, or time to find a job, make sure that your shoes speak just as well as the words coming out of your mouth.  Here are four shoes, that whatever style you have, will let people know you mean business.  Depending on the crowd you work with, brown or black shoes may be “standard operating procedure”, but you can wear both colors equally.

For the more conservative individual, the cap toe shoe is  classic, whereas the more stylish dresser can wear the double monk strap, or loafer with embellishment confidently.
