Day @ the Museum

When was the last time you paid a visit to a museum? Living in the tri-state area, national landmarks and museums see more tourists than locals. Instead of aimlessly wandering around Manhattan, my wife and I planned a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The MET happens to be the largest art museum in the United States. Once through the gatekeepers in the main lobby, you now have permission to get lost down the labyrinth of corridors and stairways.

My last time at the MET was probably during a class trip in school. Since its been that long, we decided that using a map to get around, was the smart thing to do. The adventure in losing yourself at the MET, allows you to experience diverse cultures and talent as you walk from room to room. On the streets of Fifth Ave, it’s 2018, but inside, you can explore upper and lower Egypt, the art or warfare of knights from London to the influence of fashion on the Catholic church.

If you have a Bank of America debit/ credit card, there is a program that allows the card holder free admission the 1st weekend of every month. “Click here” for details, for a list of participating museums in your area. Summer is here for a brief moment. What do you plan on discovering in your city, that can enrich your life?

Renew You

How often do you take time to slow down? Life comes at you pretty fast, whether it’s school, work, or relationships, your mind & body need a chance to recharge. Gentlemen, going to a spa, isn’t just for the ladies.

Eden Day Spa, located in Soho, NY is a full service spa, with a variety of treatments. From a deep tissue massage, to a body scrub, any of their packages will put you to sleep and have you feeling brand new. As a couple, my wife and I love spending time with each other, and finding that zen like atmosphere at Eden Day Spa, re-calibrates our senses.

Like most guys, I relax by hitting the gym. Mix in some cardio, stretch and lift weights. If you are like most guys, and follow a similar routine, I recommend you squeeze in a massage therapy session, when you can. No clue on where to go, use the resources around you, websites like Yelp or SpaFinder can give you options in your area.

Snowed In?

How do you spend your weekends when it starts to snow? It was a lucky coincidence that the weekend NYC got its first wintery mix, the Bearded Dapper Gents decided to have a photo walk in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Weather like this makes me want to bundle up and drink hot chocolate. New York may not get the blizzards it did a few years ago, but the key to surviving winters out here is to layer up. Since I’ve been wearing a lot of darker colors recently, I wanted to warm things up with some earth tones.

In addition to the basic hat and gloves to keep my head and hands warm, I decided to mix in shades of camel and brown. The dark brown check shirt was a nice contrast to the donegal cardigan sweater. Keeping me warm was the wool / cashmere overcoat and a camo scarf to keep the chill off of my neck.

If you don’t own a coat that you can wear to the office or in a casual setting, now is the time to buy one. Some of your favorite stores have either a 100% wool coat or wool cashmere blend on sale. What are some of your favorites to wear when bad weather hits your area?
