Hart of Menswear

Welcome to NYFWM. As the fashion world continues to push the seasons faster and faster to retail, NYC once again has the spotlight on it. Hosting NYFWM as well menswear trade shows such as Mrket, ProjectNY, & Capsule, this is the time when new brands and established labels show off their hard work.

The hardest working man this summer has to be David Hart. In addition to his own collection, David collaborated with American manufacturer Hart Schaffner Marx.  Established in 1887, HSM continues to evolve it’s tailored clothing. Inspired by pictures taken by Slim Aarons, Hart incorporates textured fabrics, double breasted suits, and floral trousers to make wearers feel as if they were visiting the French Riviera.

David Hart’s personal collection, brings out the laid back vibe of Southern California.  With a Beach Boys inspired show, the tailored pieces were highlighted by a yellow & black Samoan/ tiki print tuxedo. Solid color & floral shorts as well as color blocked polos & knit tops were key looks for the Sportswear collection.  Although this collection showcased Spring / Summer 17′, the airbrushed tees are available now.

Vegas Pt. 2

So what do you bring to Vegas if you plan on laying poolside all day? With the weather hotter than NYC, I decided to bring lightweight clothes that I can change out of by the pool, but still feel relaxed in, while walking back and forth through the hotel. Although Vegas isn’t humid, you still want to dress loose and relaxed as every hotel has climate controlled temps inside.

Staying at the Aria hotel, hanging out by the pool is an experience in itself. If you want to sun bathe all day, get there at 9am to get a good seat or cabana. With several pools to choose from, we decided to camp out at SKY POOL. It’s $50 a person to get into that pool area, but the chairs, cabanas, and service were that much better.

When not swimming like Nemo or Michael Phelps, you would find me eating, reading a book, or working on my tan. What I most enjoyed about the pool area was the in house music being played, great mix that didn’t just play EDM all day.

Should you visit, there is another pool area that has a club like atmosphere called Liquid. Picture any MTV party you’ve seen on TV, and that’s what you’ll see there.

Subscribe your Style

What’s right for you?  As a growing percentage of men invest in themselves, more companies are listening to what our needs are.  On one side of the street you have men who don’t know how to dress, much less tie a tie, and need some direction. On the other side you have men that have been dressing up since their bar mitzvah or Sunday school. In either case, men shop when they need something, or for a special occasion.

We subscribe to GQ Magazine, cable TV, and our favorite coffee at Starbucks, why not subscribe for men’s accessories and grooming products.
sprezzaboxSprezzaBox has four plan types that you can choose from, monthly for $28, 3-month for $80, 6-month for $155, and a 12-month subscription for $300.  You can also purchase individual pieces instead of a set.

Gentleman’s Box has two plans, monthly for $25 or annual for $275. With the holiday season approaching, Genleman’s Box has three gift box packages, 3-month for $75, 6-month for $150, or a 12-month gift for $275

Dapper Black Box has one monthly plan for $28. Products are an assortment of African American owned brands.

Birchbox has a monthly plan for $20 and a yearly plan for $195. Birchbox also has three gift box packages, 3-month for $60, 6-month for $110, or a 12-month gift for $195. If you are ever in NYC and want to build your own Birchbox, stop by the Soho location.

Although the listed companies have similar packages, they all have items unique to them.  The benefit is the number of samples or products that we can use everyday. Honestly, how excited would you be to receive the gift that keeps giving?

Who made your Ferragamo?

As men’s fashion enjoys the spotlight, more guys want to separate themselves from the crowd.   Salvatore Ferragamo, a brand where shoes are the core of their business, offers customers the chance to design their own driving shoe.  With over 10+ leathers and Ferragamo logo “bits”to choose from, the combinations can be as tame or wild as you design them to be.  As most men will continue to wear either a lace up, or slip on shoe, a driver is an elegant piece that can dress up or dress down your outfit for any occassion.  So which color will you make?

New Boys of Summer

As the NBA Finals concludes, and MLB grows closer to its All-Star game, don’t forget about golf.  The other “boys of summer” can swing for the fences as well.  The US Open is set to kick off June 18th featuring the best players in the world. As the best of the best descend on Chambers Bay in Washington State, two of the best European players ascend in showing the golf world how to dress, off the course.

Golf pro Henrik Stenson

Swedish player Henrik Stenson, currently ranked 40th in the chase for the FedEx Cup, and is officially ranked 6th in the world.

Golf pro Martin Kaymer

German player Martin Kaymer, currently ranked 160th in the chase for the FedEx Cup, and is officially ranked 19th in the world.

As both players elevate their game on the links, they continue to elevate their style off the course.  Take a look at how these two professional golfers spend a day with HUGO BOSS.

Miami getaway

There’s nothing like getting on a plane, and flying the friendly skies. With a much needed break from NYC, Miami was the first place on the list. The Fontainebleau Hotel became my residence for three days, and it lived up to the hype. Whether you play by the pool or play on the beach, the opulence of this area is sure to recharge your batteries. Travelling to Miami, keep it comfortable on the plane, but don’t forget to pack your swimming trunks, sunglasses, and sunscreen.  I can’t tell you what to pack for those South Beach nights, but a nice pair of shoes is a must.
