New Boys of Summer

As the NBA Finals concludes, and MLB grows closer to its All-Star game, don’t forget about golf.  The other “boys of summer” can swing for the fences as well.  The US Open is set to kick off June 18th featuring the best players in the world. As the best of the best descend on Chambers Bay in Washington State, two of the best European players ascend in showing the golf world how to dress, off the course.

Where’s the beef

Top 3 draft pics, Clowney, Robinson, and Bortles

Top 3 draft picks, Jadeveon Clowney, Greg Robinson, and Blake Bortles

The franchise WENDY’S used an advertisement based around “WHERE’S THE BEEF?”  Last night the NFL held its annual draft in NYC at Radio City Music Hall.  The best college football talent, had auditioned for these future jobs over the previous months, and now was their night to sit back, relax, and wait for their name to be called by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.  So now, the worst of the league gets the best pics, and the best of the league picks up the crumbs, 2 hours into this event.  I’ll let ESPN debate who chose wisely, and who didn’t.  As one analyst said last night, 50% of the league chose wrong and will be in the same position next year.  As they discuss their talent, I’ll discuss their fashion choices.

The top prospects, Jadeveon Clowney, Johnny Manziel, and Blake Bortles kept their looks pretty conservative, yet stylish.  Dark suit, white or light blue shirt, navy neckwear, and a hint of a pocketsquare, to show us some individuality.

Johnny Manziel

Johnny Manziel

For many of the athletes chosen by these NFL teams, an “off the rack” suit, just won’t do.  For a guy like Johnny Manziel who’s 6′ 0, maybe 210 lbs. he can fit into brands like HUGO BOSS or Canali, but for guys like lineman Greg Robinson who’s 6′ 5 and at least 320 lbs, he’s going to need some direction.  I’m sure these guys will have a tailor in whichever city they end up in, ready and able to have a bespoke suit ready for any and all of their upcoming interviews and events.  For now, it’s day two of the NFL meat market, hopefully your team chooses wisely, and these future millionaires dress accordingly.

If you missed the pre-Oscar red carpet show, you missed the bromance between nominees Bradley Cooper and Jonah Hill.  Although these two did not bring home the coveted award, they were dressed for the occasion. Clearly, Bradley Cooper wearing Tom Ford, was the best dressed.  Clean cut peak lapel tuxedo, tailored to perfection with a regular break at the hem, and just enough length on his sleeves to show a hint of the shirt and his Chopard watch.  Jonah Hill wearing Dolce & Gabbana, looking sharp as this notch lapel tuxedo fits his build very well.
