Gone exploring lately? Many people have taken up outdoor activities to stay in shape, and hiking can be your gateway into enjoying Mother Nature. Substituting your gym membership for a local park is a just an option, if you are looking for something different. Hiking is a great way to get your steps in, de-stress, and take in breathtaking views. With a multitude of state parks, you can get started right away. If you’re like me, you’re thinking, where do I hike, what do I wear, what do I bring.
Online searches on hiking in your area, should be your guide for the different types of trails you can get started with. If you are in the tri-state area, I recommend NY/NJ Trail Conference. This website allows you to choose the difficulty level you want your hike to be, as well as give users options, so that you have a great experience on your walkabout.

WHAT TO WEAR HIKING
Getting dressed to go hiking, shouldn’t be exhausting. Checking the weather, should be your 1st plan of action. I typically wear a light wind jacket, long sleeve knit, long pants, thermal socks, & hiking boots. Due to the variety in hiking gear, my go to shops are Adidas Terrex & REI. WHAT TO CARRY
I suggest a rucksack that is sturdy enough to carry just the right amount of stuff you need for the length of your hikes. Definitely include canteen of water, small snacks, camera & tripod for any breathtaking views you come across, and small battery pack for your phone.
Whether hiking by yourself or with a friend, always enjoy yourself. Happy Trails!
