Are you in shape or a shape? If you are like me, you’ve been quarantined for over 6 weeks, and have binge watched almost every show on Netflix. Isn’t it time for you to get off the couch and get active again? If Covid-19 has your gym closed, and us social distancing from friends & family, what ways can you stay healthy?

Yoga, running, and kettlebell routines are the exercises I’m committed to. When I was in my 20’s, I could roll out of bed, lift weights, and do cardio without pulling a muscle. Once you hit 40+, you must develop new habits in order to not hurt yourself.
Stretch & Hydrate: Warm up your muscles, get your body loose so that you can prevent injury. This should take at least 3-5 minutes depending on what muscle groups you plan on using. Drinking water is just as important as breathing when working out, unless you really like cramping or pulling a muscle.

Consistency: Kids or no kids, make the time to stay active during the week. Don’t do the same routines, keep your body guessing, so that you don’t plateau during workouts. By doing your research, you can find numerous videos on YouTube that can meet you at any stage of fitness, from beginners to advanced.
Comfort: Finding the proper clothing, makes a big difference when exercising. Besides psychologically feeling well when working out, wearing the proper size will allow you a better range of motion when your clothes aren’t too tight or loose.
As we all look to stay safe from Covid-19, do your part to avoid the extra pounds from snacking. Slow and steady beats doing nothing, look at using Zoom or House Party to work out with friends, and make time for a tele-visit with your doctor. Put your health insurance to good use.
